I had a vision of “lingerie” in my mind and it came out better than what I had envisioned. In my mind it was all about the lighting and having a soft, faded look. I actually saw it as black and white in my mind, but this picture needed to have the soft, warm glow of the lamp. So very happy with how this one turned out! I got an A, right???

Snow Day

We got a little bit of snow in Pittsburgh last night.
That is what 2 feet of snow looks like. I swear there is a road there somewhere around that tree in our cul-de-sac. It just got cleared off a little while ago. We were literally snowed in and it’s been a really fun little snow day. We made Egg McMuffins and cinnamon rolls. We watched the new episode of The Office. I knitted for awhile. I took my photo challenge pictures to catch up. (Woohoo!) Now we’re watching the Pens and I’m making spinach and artichoke mac and cheese for dinner. Oh, and I’m still in my pajamas. My plan now is to go take a look at my pictures for the challenge, fix ‘em up and post them in a little while.

I am behind on the challenge. Sooo behind. It’s hard when the only time I’m home is when it’s dark outside. My camera doesn’t take good pictures inside my house at night. It could very possibly be the photographer, but whatever the reason, I can’t get it to work. Here is my yellow. Dave bought me flowers last week for no reason, which made me really happy and made me break out the camera which I haven’t done in awhile.
You want me to do what???

Dave always says when our future child is a teenager and acting like a jerk as teenagers do, he’s going to remind him/her of everything that we had to do (and pay) for him/her to be here.
Tonight would be one of those things.
I had to inject myself with that thing. In my belly. As if my ovaries aren’t swollen to citrus fruit-like proportions and my abdomen doesn’t feel like my uterus and ovaries are being twisted into knots. They want to add to the fun and stick needles down there.
I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do it, so Dave stopped playing XBox and gave me moral support. He was the back-up goalie. But I didn’t get pulled. It took me 2 or 3 tries and I jabbed it in. And I have to say, it didn’t really hurt. It was just scary. Yeah, I’m not a nurse. Am I really qualified to be inserting needles into my skin? Apparantly they think I am.
This morning I had bloodwork and an ultrasound and they told me I had 2 large follicles (WOO!), but no hormone telling my body to release the eggs (BOO). Hence the shot. Let’s pray it works and I don’t have to do that again. I won’t even complain if it’s twins, I promise.
I am addicted…

…to Lost.
Seriously. I’m an addict. This is the setup I have going on my ottoman. I have been parked here in my chair since we finished dinner. In preparation for the final season which starts on February 2nd, I have been re-watching the past 5 seasons. Let me be the first to admit that this is insane. Today alone I have watched 7 episodes. 43 minutes per episode x 7 episodes = 301 minutes = 5 hours. 5 hours of Lost. It felt like 20 minutes.
The problem is that I am only 5 episodes in on Season 4. That means I have to watch almost 2 full seasons in 2 weeks. I’ve decided that I WILL watch all of them in time. Things might not get done around here, we may not eat or have clean clothes, but I will have a working knowledge of time travel and an awareness of every nuance there is to know about my beloved show.
And for the record, I’m not just sitting here staring at the computer screen all day being the laziest person in the world. I’m also hatching eggs and knitting myself a nice cabled hat. See, productivity and laziness all rolled into one.
So now you know where I’ve been for the past few weeks. I may be MIA for a few more. Time travel is complex stuff. Gotta study.

This is the Christmas set-up I have inside my fireplace. Lots of candles and gold balls = nice bokeh. The focus is a little off in this photo, but it was the best shot I got. I also played around with a macro filter and a candle flame and got a couple neat shots, but they were blah. Everyone’s seen a candle flame up close, although this was REALLY close. You could see all the braiding in the wick.
So next week is toilet which works out perfectly. IF my bathroom ever gets finished, I will have a nice, new never-been-used toilet to photograph. Fingers crossed.

I have some major catching up to do with the challenge. This month has been so hectic, I just didn’t have time. I took my camera to work last week and got this shot for “feet.” I like the texture of the blanket and her little toes sticking out. She was so patient with me while I took picture after picture.
Soon everything should slow down a little and then I won’t be a slacker anymore.
This and That
12/19/2009 at 3:03 pm (About me, Baby)
I think I’ll just show you what has been going on around here lately and why I have not posted my picture of “road” this week. I hope to get it taken soon, but it may have to wait.
First of all (and most important):
My bathroom!! We’re on day 4 of construction. It may last forever. My house is one giant ball of mess and I have no idea where anything is. My bed is in the workout room, our dressers are in another bedroom, the stuff from our bathroom and bedroom is scattered amongst the rooms wherever it would fit. And I am driving 2 hours every day going to get the kids I nanny for, bringing them back to my house to be here while the men work, taking them home when the men leave, and then driving myself back home. But at least the cement board is up in my amazing shower and that giant hole in the floor is now covered.
Also, Fetey’s cross is now buried inside of said hole.
I am knitting like crazy to get one of Baba’s Christmas presents finished – a set of dishcloths. I’m going old-school with her present.
And this was outside my kitchen window this morning. With more inches to come.
And my brother and his girlfriend got engaged!! We’re heading up to the cabin tomorrow to celebrate that and my brother’s completion of his thesis and getting his Masters degree. Congratulations Matt and Di!!!!! (Too bad I don’t have a pic to put in…I’ll take one tomorrow.)
Also – we’re starting our first Clomid cycle in January. Can’t wait to get going on that.
Busy, busy busy.
